Submarine Force Museum & Mystic Seaport
Just two days before arriving at our summer work camping spot, we grabbed a couple more adventures. We stayed in Eastford, CT at wonderful and fun Peppertree Camping to wrap up our two-week sightseeing ride from Lincolnton, GA to Bethel, ME. We found ourselves right at an hour away from the Submarine Force Museum (complete with tour of USS Nautilus) and Mystic Seaport. Both were fun, exciting, and enlightening.
US Navy Submarine Force Museum and Historic Ship Nautilus
The Nautilus, launched in 1954, was the first nuclear powered vessel in the entire world. Another first for this ship was a voyage to the North Pole. |

Time to get on the water!
We were grateful to be able to walk aboard the Charles W. Morgan and explore inside. Stepping in and peeking into each room of this 1841 whaling ship reminded me of the movie Free Willy. I'm sure not everyone who tours has the same thought. Those with a nautical background or a serious love for everything sailing would probably have a different experience. It is a delightful pursuit no matter what angle you approach it from.
Cannon would have stayed in this interactive area below all day if given the chance. ⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵

Did y'all go to Mystic Pizza? Eric went when he was there and said it was EHHH pizza. Julia Roberts starred in the movie, the place supposedly has her picture on the wall. She was so young.
