Bar Harbor, Lubec, & Across the Border for a Drive

We had no intention of staying in Maine without trekking over to Bar Harbor for at least a couple of days. And, when it came to planning the time we'd spend there, Acadia National Park was on top of the list. While investigating further, we realized that Lubec, ME and New Brunswick, Canada were in reach also.

The main attraction for us in this part of Canada was the Mulholland Point Lighthouse.

Getting a first "across the border" look at the USA

A quick ride over this bridge took us to Canada.

Stop signs are looking a little different here!

Canada...so far and yet so close!

Before crossing into Canada, we tried to take in a Lubec, Maine sunrise while viewing West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. We actually set our alarm to wake, get ready, and hit the road by 1:45 AM ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Before you assume we have completely lost our minds, I'll explain. This is one of the areas to see first sunlight in the nation. It is the easternmost point in the contiguous United States. Being in the area, we couldn't pass the opportunity.
The weather was not cooperative and left us empty handed when it came to sunrise photos, but the cold temperatures, drizzle, and fog ended up being a perfect setup to walk up to this lighthouse at dawn. Mysterious and intriguing, West Quoddy didn't need sunny weather to impress us.

In Bar Harbor we intended to take in waterside sights and fresh lobster. We then realized, while in Maine, blueberry pie is a must too.

As we made our way to this wharf, we were also treated to the sounds and smells of harbor life.

And no trip to Bar Harbor would be complete without the "moose on the roof" street view shot๐Ÿ˜Š

Acadia National Park
Offering nearly 50,000 acres, this park attracts millions of visitors each year. We don't take for granted being able to be counted among these this year. Saving it for last seemed like the only appropriate way to introduce it.  We were honestly amazed over and over again as we made our way through the many areas available to explore. Day one definitely whet our appetite for more, so we ventured once more before leaving the area. One could easily spend several days in the park and still be hungry for more.

....along the path to Sand Beach....

Cannon is not looking very happy here, but who could possibly blame him? Would you want to leave this beach?

With the rain coming down, we decided to wait a few minutes. That afforded us the chance to get the next shot.

We sure hope this view of some Maine and Canada beauty is fun and worth the time. Until we meet again...๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’ž
