Becoming Familiar with Bethel, ME

Although lots of people come to Bethel during winter in search of the many snowy adventures, it is a great place to spend a summer. We are excited to call this town our temporary home along the gorgeous Androscoggin River. Outdoor activities available here include kayaking, tubing, canoeing, and paddle boarding. If a place to just sit and take in beauty is desired, the river definitely offers plenty of that too.

Upon arrival we were thrilled to find out that a family with two young boys would be coming in giving Cannon the chance to get to know a couple new friends. The sandbox is a great place to get acquainted.  We're looking forward to more play time throughout the next few months.

Bethel Pathway

This path winds through a little more than a mile and a half one way and takes us by a skate park, a playground, and a pretty covered bridge. A large area of the road incorporates a fun learning opportunity by way of colorful art painted right on. Lots of exercise, educational opportunities, and fresh air are included! The best part of all is that we hop on the path right from the campground! No need to drive or find parking.

Sunday River Bridge

About five miles away, we found this piece of history. Built in 1872, this covered bridge is one of the few from the 1800's left to enjoy in Maine.

Walking right next to the bridge....thankfully no water in there that day!

Bethel Library

As some of you may remember, we shared a bit about our library experiences as we travel. We're very happy to report that we were met with the same welcome and encouragement here in Bethel and are looking forward to a continuous variety of books to enjoy.

In the above 24 seconds, don't be fooled by the white stuff falling from the sky in June. 😯 Although we were told we'd "freeze all the way in Maine", no snow to see here. It's just the clusters of blooms falling heavily from the black cherry tree hanging over us. But that doesn't mean the temperatures haven't fallen to what we never dreamed we'd see in June. As we began this week, we enjoyed one day hanging out right about 47 degrees as we hopped around Portland to check out a few lighthouses (that post coming soon😉).
