Fort Ticonderoga

As travels leading away from Maine began and the route was mapped, we quickly realized we would be very close to Fort Ticonderoga when camped in the Burlington, VT area. We don't like passing on this kind of daytrip, so we crossed over Lake Champlain from Vermont into New York to see this impressive 18th-century star fort.  After taking a while to stroll in and around the fort, learning everything we could by reading, watching, and absorbing tutorials presented by a dedicated and passionate uniform-clad group, we rode up 840 feet to Mount Defiance for a birds-eye view. Enjoy the images captured as we soaked up an amazing amount of education, excitement, and astounding views.

Mick and Mack are the names of this intriguing six-year-old Red Devon Oxen pair.

And now, to tour the fort!

As we made our way out to the parking lot to start the drive on Mount Defiance, this view was hard to miss with its fall foliage, gorgeous greens, and mountains in the distance. All of this showcased by the natural fencing commands one to stop and click๐Ÿ˜Š

We arrived at the top to walk a bit more up to this splendor!

Fort Ticonderoga is seen centered here as some of Vermont's beauty lies behind it.
